The Musings Of One Without A Muse

Tedious hours spent at work
while the world lies in wait
full of adventures never had
who are you to tempt fate?

You are human, heart of fire!
fate kneels before you,
bends to your whims and desires
look within, you know this to be true.

A life of adventure, danger
risks taken at every turn
to you, death is no stranger,
but from living life, you learn;

All things are fluid,
nothing set in stone
there are chances to take
rules to forsake, love to make
to day is the day, make your life
                                          your own

I grow bored when told
what I already know
like “It pays to be bold”
and “you reap what you sow”

Don’t treat me like a child
I’ve learned more of life
in my many final moments.
oh, the things you remember
at the point of a knife.

The Night Passing Into Day

Have you ever stopped and heard
what the trees have to say;
listened to the song of a bird
or watch the night pass into day?

It’s too often forgotten
that by nature, we’re begotten.
We lose sight of our roots,
quick to draw, quick to shoot.

Fragile things we humans be,
quick to fear, quick to flee.
The courage in our hearts is gone,
lost with the setting of the sun.

The sun has yet to set on my heart,
I still have cards to play.
I shall, indeed, play my part
until the night passes into day.

moments so fleeting
they can’t be captured
beauty beheld, bliss
my eyes, my heart, enraptured
